Episode 25: A Story
I’d like to tell you a short story:
10 years and 1 day ago a 12 year old boy was sitting in the boys locker room of his middle school when the principle came on the loud speaker and told that little boy and the rest of the school that something bad had happened, he went into detail about it, and that boy became very scared.
That boy could only process news the way a 12 year old could. Eventually that boy learned that no one he knew was hurt but that boy was still scared.
Every time he heard a plane, a loud rumble, a bang, or just the dropping of a heavy object, he became frightened.
It took that boy a long, long, time, years even, to get over that fear. Fear that people are capable of horrible things.
Today that boy is now a man and understands what the right thing to do is…
Not be afraid
Not to be afraid of going outside, of what dangers exist in the world, of the horrors that humanity is capable of.
That boy. That man. That person learned to understand and make sense of that 12 year old’s fear.
And that man only wishes the best for all, even though he knows it’s an unobtainable request.
