Podcast Appreciation Week, February 19 - 25

We all love podcasts. They get us through our commutes. They make our workdays more tolerable. They tell us which movies to watch and which ones suck. Most podcasters put in this time and hard work for very little in return. Podcast Appreciation Week (P.A.W.) was created to remind you that a little appreciation goes a long way. Take a moment to call in a thank you to a show’s voicemail or make a donation to a show that regularly asks for listener contributions. Yours truly walks into a Blindshop with broken blinds.

Yours truly ask Blindsman, “what’s wrong?”

Blindsman says “let me take a look.”

Blindsman walks to the back of the store with the blinds.

One minute later Blindsman comes back saying blinds are fixed.

Yours truly takes out his wallet and asks “how much for the repair.”

Blindsman just waves off yours truly and says “no charge.”

Yours truly asks for business card and leaves the Blindshop with a restored faith in human kind.

In my freshman year of college Chuck premiere on NBC. And now, a little over half a year after my graduation it has ended.

Of all the shows I love that ended recently, this one is the most upsetting to know it won’t be coming back. But yet, I am happy. I am happy because the story got the ending it so rightfully deserved.

I’m not writing this to review the finale, I’ll do that on The Idiot Boxers. I’m writing this to express how much fun I had with Chuck and how glad I am to have spent the last five years with it.

Chuck was a show that was with me through my college journey into adulthood and now, like Chuck’s future, I can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner.

So to you Chuck, I thank you. Thank you for the moment of joy, suspense, thrills, and sorrow. I will miss you the most of all. You did a TV bug right and I couldn’t of asked for anything better.

Completed my first, and eventually my 11th script

Was quoted in a widely read publication (this one was insane)

Ended up on a DVD

Got to talk to the EPs and creators of my favorite television show.

Met a really cool director of Film & Television

All in all, 2011 wasn’t to bad after all.

Tomorrow I record the 100th episode of my podcast Celluloid Spotlight with @on904. I started it 2 years ago and while it is not the best thing I have made since getting into podcasting (I started another show since then and co-manage a network of them), it’s something I am damn proud of. I honestly never thought it was going to last this long, there have been many obstacles along the way with making it last. But now that it has I can’t help but feel like I accomplished something, if for no one other than myself.

I made something that a small handful of people like and responded to. And you know what, that small handful that stuck around for the last 100 weeks is a handful more that I would of ever expected to give a shit.

So you know what, here’s to the act of creation of the proof that sometimes it feels good just to do something for the sake of doing it.
